It has been confirmed that The Stone Roses documentary “Made of Stone” will open nationwide on June 5th. This film was made by director, Shane Meadows and it goes behind the scene on The Stone Roses’ 2012 reunion, from the early stages to their hometown shows at Heaton Park. This event will be satellite-linked to over 100 cinemas for nationwide preview screenings. These preview screenings will run concurrently with the premiere launch and tickets for the host venue and satellite-linked cinemas will be available to the public. The film premiere, which will have all of the band members in attendance, will be on May 30th at Manchester. Fans who attended last year’s Warrington Parr Hall and Heaton Park gigs who are featured in the film will get tickets to the premiere in Manchester. Meadows had filmed The Stone Roses for about a year from their reunion press conference in October 2011 to their performances in August 2012. This film will include scene of early rehearsals in a barn and footage of The Stone Roses’ comeback shows in multiple locations.

Paul McCartney has revealed plans for a 2013 tour called, Out There! McCartney has only confirmed two dates so far which are at the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland on June 22nd  and at the Happel Stadium in Vienna, Austria on June 27th. McCartney was said that more dates will be announced soon. There has also been mention that Paul McCartney is currently working on a new studio album. McCartney will be headlining the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee this summer. Paul McCartney & Wings will be releasing a live version of Maybe I’m Amazed on 12-inch vinyl for Record Store Day on April 20th.

Paramore have revealed that they will embark on a South American tour this summer which will take place across Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil. Electronic and Dance

The Postal Service have announced an unheard song called “Turn Around”. To listen to this track, be sure to visit: http://www.nme.com/news/the-postal-service/69340. This song is one of two new songs that will be featured on the 10-year anniversary of their only album, Give Up. The re-release of this album will include a second disc which has the songs “A Tattered Line of String” and “Turn Around”, along with the album’s original ten tracks. The second disc will include live recordings, remixes, and covers. The Postal Service have revealed some UK tour dates and they will also play Coachella on April 13th and 20th, along with Barcelona’s Primavera Sound Festival.

Ellie Goulding’s track, “Anything Could happen has been remixed by Mt. Eden, as hefty drum and bass jolts have been included on the track. Prince has announced a 28-date West Coast tour that will be spanning over 23 days. Prince has booked these shoes in small club venues and he will perform in seven different clubs in seven different cities. Country

Kip Moore has recently released a video for his latest single, “Hey Pretty Girl”. Blur have announced information for a one-off Irish date in August. On August 1st, the band will perform at Dublin’s Irish Museum of Modern Art. Tickets for this show are now available. This performance will mark Blur’s first show in Ireland in four years. Blur will also be performing at this year’s Coachella festival in California. They have plans to perform on April 12th and 19th. Blur will also play Mexico’s Vive Latino Festival. This event takes place on March 16th. They will then play Hong Kong’s Asia World Arena on May 6th and New Taipei County Stadium on May 9th. Blur have also written two new songs titled “Under the Westway” and “The Puritan” to play on their Hyde Park dates. Blur have also stated that they do not have plans to make a new Blur album in the future.

The Rolling Stones have been said to be set to head out on an eighteen date tour in the United States this year. Rolling Stone Magazine had written that a “concert business source” has confirmed that The Rolling Stones will play less than twenty dates in the United States, for the first half of 2013. There have also been other sources that have mentioned that The Rolling Stones will also play Glastonbury. Mick Jagger has already given hints about the possibility of The Rolling Stones playing the festival.

Portugal. The Man have announced details for their eighth studio album. The new album titled Evil Friends is set to be released on June 4th. James Blake is set to release his second album Overgorwn  on April 8th. As this album’s release date soon approaches, tracks from the album  have popped up for fans to listen. Country

Claude King, best known for his classic hot “Wolverton Mountain”, died of a heart attack on March 7th. King passed away in his home in Shreveport, L.A., at the age of 90. King made his chart debut in 1961 with “Big River, Big Man”. His song “Wolverton Mountain” reached No. 1 in the country charts and No. 6 on the pop charts in 1962. King had essentially retired in the mid-1980s, yet he still occasionally recorded. Details for his funeral are still to be announced.

Jake Bugg has revealed an autumn headline tour, in which he will perform in his largest venues to date. This tour includes nine dates and it starts at Birmingham BIC on October 19th and will finish on November 6th at Manchester O2 Apollo. This tour will also include a date at London O2 Academy Brixton, on October 23rd. Tickets for this tour have gone one sale on Februray 21st. These dates will follow appearance at Reading and Leeds Festivals, and other dates will be in supporting The Stone Roses during the summer. Jake Bugg is nominated for best Album and Best Solo Artist in this year’s NME Awards, along with a nomination for British Breakthrough Act at the Brit awards. Jake Bugg’s headline tour dates include: Bournemouth BIC (October 19th), Plymouth (October 22nd), London Brixton O2 Academy (October 23rd), Swindon Oasis (October 27th), Birmingham O2 Academy (October 28th), Glasgow O2 Academy (October 31st), Doncaster Dome (November 2nd), and Manchester O2 Apollo (November 6th).

The Strokes have said that they do not have any current plans to tour their new album Comedown Machine. The Strokes will release their fifth studio album on March and have declined to speak to the media about the new music. Bassist, Nikolai Fraiture, however, spoke to Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe on Februrary 21st. Fraiture gave little away about plans for the new album, yet he did mention information about the recording process and the atmosphere within the band. David Bowie will release a new track titled “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” on February 26th. Bowie will also release his first new album in 10 years in March. Yeah Yeah Yeahs will soon reveal their new single called “Sacrilege”, next week. This song will be the first single from their new album Mosquito and it will premiere on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show on Monday, February 25th. Fall Out Boy have revealed that they will be releasing their new album called Save Rock and Roll, a month earlier than planned. Fall Out Boy, who reunited earlier this month, initially had plans to release their new album in May. They have decided that they will not keep fans waiting. The new release date for the album is now April 15th and 16th worldwide. Swedish House Mafia have performed in Chicago for the first and last time this week, for their One Last Tour. The United Center’s sold out crowd was filled with excitement as the show started. The venue was filled as people scrambled over seats. It is not known if things have come into terms, but Chicago did love the first and last set.

Disclosure have revealed the music video for their new single “White Noise”. This single had recently debuted in the UK singles chart at No. 2. Disclosure’s forthcoming album is set to be released later this year. The duo is also set to embark on their second US tour in a few weeks. Lady Gaga has been forced to cancel every date on her current US and Canada tour because she has to undergo surgery. She had previously postponed shows on her Born This Way world tour in Chicago. It has been said that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip and she will be having surgery in order to repair the problem, along with time to recover. Lady Gaga is also expected to release her third new album, ARTPOP, later this year.

 

Country
Country singer, Mindy McCready has died of an apparent suicide at the age of 37, according to a report from BBC news. The police was sent to a home in Herber Springs, Arizona and it has been said that McCready’s body was found on the front porch  Arkansas sheriff, Marty Moss, has said that she has suffered an “apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound”. When speaking to NBC’s dateline about her partner’s death this January, McCready said she had “never gone through anything this painful”.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have released the newest song in the set of 18 new singles they are releasing. These singles are released via their website to fans. The new track is titled “In Love Dying”. Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to headline this year’s Coachella Festival, alongside Phoenix and Blur. This event will take place in California.

The Who have released details regarding a 10-date UK and Ireland arena tour. They will completely perform their album Quadrophenia in this tour, along with other classics. The tour starts in Dublin on June 8th and ends in Liverpool on June 30th. Tickets for these dates go on sale February 1st at 9am. Muse have announced that they have already started plans for their next studio album. Muse have released their sixth studio album The 2nd Law last September and they are already planning for their seventh. Despite having early plans for the album, the band have said that it will be some time before a new album surfaces. Muse have also revealed that they will perform their song “Supremacy” at this year’s Brit Awards, with a full orchestra. They will also do a four-date stadium tour this summer in the UK. This tour starts with shows at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena on May 22nd, London’s Emirates Stadium on May 25th and 26th, and it ends at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 1st. Two Door Cinema Club are one of the first acts that were announced to perform for this year’s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend. This annual and free nusic event is to take place from May 24th-26th. It will be held in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Olly Murs has been announced to perform at the event, as well. Headline artists and a full line-up is still to be confirmed. Green Day, Biffy Clyro, Tame Impala, Django Django are acts that have been added to this year’s Optimus Alive Festival line-up, which will take place in Oeiras, Portugal. The previously announced headliners for the event include of Kings of Leon and Depeche Mode. Other new acts that have been added include Alt-J, Editors, Twin Shadow, and Of Monsters and Men. This festival will take place from July 12th to July 14th and tickets have already been made available.

The Strokes have confirmed that they have a new album set to be released on March 25th, called Comedown Machine. The Stroke’s record label, Rough Trade Records, confirmed that the new album will be released in March and that it will include a new single called “All the Time”. It has been said that Daft Punk have left EMI and are now signed to Sony/Columbia for their forthcoming fourth album. Daft Punk are currently in the process of finalizing their contract with Sony/Columbia, for their upcoming album’s release for this spring. Although little else is known about the new album, the duo are definitely set for a new release in 2013.

Dirty South has announced that a new full length studio album will be released on March 5th. Dragan had announced that his new album will be called Speed of Life at an exclusive listening party and this caused a social media buzz. Those that did attend the listening party had only good words for Dragan’s latest material.

Pop and R&B

Miley Cyrus has announced that she has recently signed a deal with RCA Records for her new album. The album is set to be released sometime in 2013 and remains untitled. Cyrus has said that she will be working with Dr. Luke for this follow-up album. This marks her first album release without Disney backing her. Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy and Da Internz, and Tyler, the Creator are other people Cyrus has said to be working with.

Country

Lady Antebellum have debuted their new single “Downtown” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. They have also spent some time shooting the video for the new single. “Downtown” has been Lady Antebellum’s highest charting debut to date. The single landed at No. 25 on the Billboard Country Chart.

Vampire Weekend have debuted a brand new track titled “Arms”, live. The new song was performed during their show at the Metro Theatre in Sydney. This event took place on January 23rd. The song is taken from their forthcoming third album. The new album is set to be released on May 6th in the UK and on May 7th in the US. A recording of Paul McCartney singing “A World without Love” has been unearthed by Peter Asher. The song was written by McCartney and given to Asher for his duo, Peter and Gordon, in order for them to record it. Until now, there was no confirmation if there was a recording of McCartney performing the song. This song had gone to No. 1 in the UK and the US, after it was released in 1964. The version that was discovered includes Paul McCartney singing and playing the acoustic guitar for the song. Some of these same tapes include a recording of McCartney singing an early version of The Beatles’ “I’ll follow the Sun”.

 

Paramore have recently revealed details of the tracks that will be featured in their upcoming self-titled album. The Vaccines had headlined The Joiners in Southampton on January 22nd, where they played a one-off not-for-profit show in order to raise money and awareness of the venue. The Vaccines played an hour-long set with a selection of songs from their debut album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? And from their second album Come of Age. The Joiners has played host to bands such as Oasis, Kings of Leon, The Liberteens, etc., in the past. The set was made because the venue has been facing an uncertain future after a dramatic recent drop in ticket sales. The Vaccines had played songs such as “No Hope”, “Wreckin Bar (Ra Ra Ra)”, “Teenage Icon”, and more at this set. They are now set to embark on a UK arena tour this May, which will include the biggest show they have done so far at London’s O2 Arena on May 2nd.

Swedish House Mafia have announced the full lineup for the highly-anticipated North American part of One Last Tour. The tour includes over a dozen acts that have been booked to open for them. New York will be treated with Pete Tong, AN21, Otto Knows and Armand Van Helden in Madison Square Garden. AN21 and Max Vangeli will be in San Francisco as well. Nero, Alesso, Zedd, Monsta, and more will be at LA’s Masquerade Motel. Swediah House Mafia’s last United States performance will take place at this year’s Ultra Music Festival.

Adele has confirmed that she will be performing “Skyfall” live at this year’s Academy Awards, which will be held in Los Angeles. She had posted on her label’s website (XL Recordings) that it was an honor to be nominated and chosen to sing in front of so many people. Adele is also nominated for the Best Original Song category at the awards. Adele had also picked up a Golden Globe award for “Skyfall”. The Academy Awards will take place on February 24th at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

 

Justin Timberlake is set to take the stage during the Super Bowl weekend in New Orleans. Timberlake will perform at the DIRECTV Super Saturday Night event. This event takes place one day before the big game, on February 2nd. This charity event will benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children. Timberlake has yet to confirm any tour plans to support the release of his next album, The 20/20 Experience.

 

Country

Carrie Underwood has done a duet with Steven Tyler for Aerosmith’s latest album. The song is titled “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” and is now a radio single. Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood have sung together in a mash-up of “Undo It” and “Walk This Way” at the ACM Awards, back in 2011. It was said that the decision to add Underwood’s vocals to the song was last minute, yet they worked well for the song.

The Strokes are to release a new album in 2013. The Stroke’s fifth album will be released later this year and will most likely include their single “All the Time”. News about their new album were received hours after a US radio station claimed it had been sent a brand new Strokes song that was called “All the Time”. The new track was said to have been sent by RCA records.

Phoenix have named their upcoming album Bankrupt! On the band’s website (http://www.wearephoenix.com/), the homepage has a sound clip, thought to be taken from the new album. Phoenix will play Rock am Ring im Park festival in Germany. The performances will take place from July 7th -9th. Other performances in the festival include Green Day, The Killers, and The Prodigy. It has been said that Phoenix are set to release their new album in April after Daniel Glass (head of Phoenix’s record label, Glassnote Records) mentioned the release date.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs had performed a few brand new songs at a show at the Glass House in Pomona, California on January 11th. The band opened up the show with one of these brand new songs and followed it with “Phenomena” and then another new song. All of the new songs that were performed are thought to be taken from their upcoming fourth LP. Black Sabbath have announced that their new album will be called 13 and it is set to be released in June. Black Sabbath have made the album primarily in Los Angeles and it features Rage Against the Machine’s Brad Wilk on drums. They have also revealed that the album will include 15 tracks. Palma Violets have announced details of a UK tour that is set to take place in March of 2013. Palma Violets will be touring in support of their debut album 180, which is set for a release date in February. This short tour will begin at the Lemon Grove venue and other tour dates will be in Cambridge, Sheffield, Middlesbrough and Oxford. Palma Violet’s debut album is set for a release date on February 25, through Rough Trade Records. The second annual benefit concert for the Children’s Orthopedic Center in West Hollywood will be headlined by Deadmau5. Katy Perry and Alicia Keys are among a diverse group of musicians lined up for the Inaugural Ball this Monday, as President Obama is officially sworn in for his second term. For the official Inaugural Ball, Keys and Perry will be alongside other artists such as fun., members of the “Glee” cast, John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Far East Movement, Soundgarden, Brad Paisley, and more. The Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, which honors America’s armed forces, will have artisits such as Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, and Marc Anthony. Both of these events will take place on January 21st, after Obama has taken the oath of office.

Bob Dylan has just released a limited-edition box set in order to prevent some of his rare, early recordings from falling out of copyright. This “50th Anniversary Collection” includes 86 rarities that Dylan had recorded in 1962. Bob Dylan’s debut album has fallen out of copyright in Europe. To prevent the same thing from happening to his 86 recordings, Sony Music had distributed around 100 copies of The 50th Anniversary Collection to some stores in France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK.

Arctic Monkeys have been confirmed to headline this year’s Benicàssim festival. Arctic Monkeys will be joining The Killers and Queens of the Stone Age on the line-up. Other acts that were confirmed to perform at the festival on July 18th-21st include Jake Bugg, Palma Violets, Azealia Banks, Echo Lake, Splashh and Swim Deep. David Bowie has just announced his first new album in 10 years. The album is titled, The Next Day and it is to be released on March 11th in the UK and most countries, March 8th in Australia, and March 12th in the USA. The standard edition of the album includes 14 songs and the “Deluxe Version” has another three songs, both of which are available to pre-order on iTunes now. Morrissey had played an unreleased song on the US television program Late Show with David Letterman this week. This track is one of three solo tracks that were released on BBC Radio in 2011. The two other songs are titled “The Kid’s a Looker” and “People are the Same Everywhere”. He had also performed a song called “Scandanavia” in his live sets. Morrissey has already confirmed that he has new material ready for an upcoming album.

Jake Bugg, Frank Turner, and Vampire Weekend are some of the many artists that are to be announced to perform at this year’s South by Southwest music festival. This event will take place in Austin, Texas. The music arm of South by Southwest will take place from March 12th-17th and will also see announced sets from Black Lips, Jesca Hoop, Toy, and more. The Knife had just announced their first tour dates since 2006. It was said that these dates will take place in Copenhagen in May. On The Knife’s official website, a message mentions that they will be playing two shows at Copenhagen’s Vega in May 12th and 13th. These are the first tour dates to be announced for their upcoming ‘Shaking the Habitual’ tour, which will have more European dates announced soon. The Knife also announced that they will release their new album on April 8th, titled Shaking the Habitual.

Justin Timberlake has confirmed that he will return to the music industry. Timberlake had last released an album in 2006 and he has spent the last few years focusing on his acting career. Timberlake had confirmed that he is ready to release new material. It has been rumored that he might release new music with Jay-Z. There are also other rumors that state that Beyonce will be featured on his new songs. On his return to the music industry, Timberlake had released a video to state that he is “ready”. Beyonce is set to perform at United States President, Barack Obama’s inauguration. The event will be on January 21st outside of the Capitol building in Washington, DC and   Beyonce will sing the National Anthem of the United States. Barack Obama had spoken at a fundraiser hosted by Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z, for his re-election campaign that was in New York. This fundraiser had raised about $4 million.

Jerrod Niemann had taken the idea of getting in touch with the fans to a whole new level. Back in September, Niemann had launched a sweepstakes called “Rock Your Room” which was set to give one lucky winner a bundle of Sony Electronics and an exclusive live performance from him in their residence. The lucky winner was chosen to be Catherine, a student at Arizona State University. Niemann has gone to Arizona to treat Catherine and her friends to a private concert at her house on December 10th. With the private concert, Catherine received new electronics from Sony, including a PlayStation Vita. Jerrod Niemann’s “Jägermeister Presents” tour will be ending on January 11th, with only a few tour dates left.
